Kathleen Cahill is an artist currently living in Pittsburgh, PA. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2006 with a BFA in Materials Studies, focusing in glass. She also studied metal smithing and sculpture while in school. Kathleen spent 2007 living in Southern California, studying glass with Joe Cariati, and also traveled to Pilchuck Glass School, Penland School of Crafts, and The Studio in Corning, NY during the summer of 2007. She will be moving to Gifu, Japan in May 2009 to spend a year teaching english as a foreign language. Right now Kathleen is making small scale sculptures and jewelry using silver spoons she finds at antique stores. She is interested in the idea of "up-cycling" and repurposing found items to give them new life and value.
